Pilsner Urquell is the original golden pilsner style lager that is responsible for changing the way beer was brewed for the rest of time. Basically every lager beer ever made is based on the recipe for this beer, which was created in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia using methods that transformed beer from a dark murky substance into the golden nectar that we know and love today.
Upon drinking this beer, the first thing you'll notice is the slightly skunky odor and then a refreshing blast of highly carbonated mouth-feel. It's a flavourful mouthful for a pilsner/lager, and you'll catch a variety of grainy and floral notes as you drink it. It's another one of those beers that gets its water on-site from a natural source, and I find that most of these beers (ie. Creemore Springs) end up with a certain "I don't know what" that enhances the flavour. This is a really enjoyable and refreshing beer that I love drinking in the summertime.
This beer is great with food, and tastes real good ice cold. However, as it warms up it develops more sweetness, so drinking it slow has its benefits as well.
